NFL Week 14 Game Rankings Doesnt get juicier than Shady vs. Kelly

The good news: It's a divisional weekend in the NFL.The bad news: Two of those divisions are the NFC South and the AFC West. One division race has already been decided. The could've started pa sing out the t-shirts last Sunday night, just a week after Thanksgiving. And the , since making the switch to , have yet to lose and have all but clinched the AFC West and could officially wrap it up this weekend. So, yeah, those divisional games aren't going to move the meter all that much. So, no, it's not the most glorious week of the season in terms of marquee matchups. The 4 p.m. Eastern slot is particularly thin -- at Broncos on CBS and at on Fox -- and the final two primetime games of the week aren't going to set any ratings records, either. Feels like a week where we are treading water some, all the while knowing that some heavyweight battles (Broncos/ , for one) are awaiting just on the horizon.Drop Everythingat New England (10-2) at Houston (6-6) Sunday, Dec. 13, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC) Why To Watch: It tells you something about the way this week shapes up when this game gets flexed into the Sunday night spot. I mean, it's a nice game and all, and we can certainly sink our teeth into all of the ex- -- , , Bill O'Brien, Romeo Crennel, Mike Vrabel -- now trying to get the into the playoffs. The Pats are reeling after two Austin Seibert Jersey straight lo ses and suddenly have gone from flirting with perfection to trying to fight their way back into a first-round playoff bye. And the Texans are still in the mix for the AFC South and the wild card with a 6-6 record after a tough lo s to Buffalo last week. It's a quality game for sure, though not sexy, and the opportunity to see how holds up against -- who'll be playing with a broken hand -- and this defense could help reframe the Pats' situation as well. Brady got knocked around pretty good by the Eagles last week. The Texans should have plenty of inside info on this Pats team, but you always have to wonder if Bill Belichick has a few tricks up his sleeve with his team now really in need of a victory. What To Watch For: Expect the Patriots to go with a very simple game plan here and attack the Texans like they did the early in the season. With all the injuries and some ailing offensive linemen, they can take no chances with Brady's health, especially against Watt. It wouldn't be surprising if the Patriots don't run the ball 45 times if need be as a team, and you can have some succe s running directly at the Texans ends. shall be busy As for those Texans ends, is playing the best football of his brief NFL career. Can he sustain it? Pencil in for like 10 targets in the screen game right now Plenty of flashes from and for the Pats last week with so many others injured Look for more from now that he's got a game under his belt, and this Patriots defense doesn't get enough credit for the job it has done. Last week's lo s wasn't on this unit. It was turnovers and special teams implosions As for those special teams, anyone want to be a fly on the wall in Belichick's meetings with those units this week? Any chance NFL Films had a camera crew in there? Guarantee you it wasn't pretty Belichick will sell out to shut down . Can the Texans get production out of anyone else? Hopkins has more than twice as many catches and yards than anyone else on the roster. He has 10 TD grabs and no one else has more than three. at Pittsburgh (7-5) at Cincinnati (10-2) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Why To Watch: The aren't completely out of the AFC North race yet, but they also aren't even in control of their own destiny in terms of the wild card and fully realize they have almost no margin for error. Pittsburgh is just 4-4 in AFC games, which carry crucial tiebreakers. Meantime, the Bengals can clinch the division with a victory here -- which would also complete a rare series sweep over the Steelers -- and then focus on trying to hold on to a first-round bye. This is a rough stretch of games for the Bengals, excluding the two-week vacation against the worst teams in football (Cleveland and St. Louis). The Bengals lost to the Texans and in consecutive weeks before that, and must go to San Francisco and Denver for consecutive road prime-time games after this rivalry game, which won't be easy. And plenty has been made about Cincy's epic woes on the big stage under Marvin Lewis. If the Steelers do manage to whack them here, you'd have to further worry about the Bengals' vulnerability down the stretch. And you always wonder about it in January. This is probably the biggest game of the weekend, featuring two teams we've generally become accustomed to seeing reach the postseason. What To Watch For: Can any team slow down the Steelers pa sing attack? Unle s has another weird turnover-prone game like he did in Seattle (and even then he put up like 500 yards), there really is no stopping this unit. Too many weapons and the depth of the Bengals' secondary could be compromised here the last four games: 41 catches for 592 yards and 4 TDs -- and that's not including the punt return for a TD that he punctuated by dry-humping (can I say that?) the goal post on Sunday night. Good luck The Bengals need to be careful with , but obviously this is a game they could use him and he could really compromise a leaky Steelers secondary down the seam Dalton needs to be careful about locking in on in the red zone. Steelers will know those tendencies and jump some routes Have to think this is the end of ' star-cro sed coupling with Mike Tomlin. After that tap dance they shared on the sidelines in Baltimore during that Thanksgiving game a few years back, this was always doomed These teams combined for only 26 points in the first meeting (the QBs combined for five picks). I tend to think this is not quite the same level of a defensive struggle continues to flash and you just know he'll have some stuff to say to try to get into Dalton's head from Sheldon Richardson Jersey the time he spent in Cincy. The Kids Can Raise Themselvesat Buffalo (6-6) at Philadelphia (5-7) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Why To Watch: There will be no player in the NFL, anywhere, who is more fired up to play a game this weekend than is to play this game. You could almost see the desire pouring out of him as he told reporters, just after rolling through the Texans last Sunday: "Y'all know who's next." Who's next is the , McCoy's only other employers in the NFL and the team that drafted him and where he thought he'd play his entire career after signing a huge contract extension a few years ago. Except, well, "Who's next" is really Chip Kelly. It's the Eagles coach/football personnel guru who traded McCoy, an all-time franchise great, to the Bills for an injured inside linebacker, which prompted McCoy to level allegations of racism at Kelly and would go on to spawn, oh, a three-month feeding frenzy for Philly talk radio. Which, let's be honest, rarely needs such provocation, but knows how to plunder these gifts when they come along. So, yeah, this is personal. McCoy will be so motivated to shove it down Kelly's throat, and po sibly derail the Eagles' tenuous playoff standing in the proce s that Rex Ryan, of all people, may need to try to calm him down. And the Bills are playing for their playoff lives, too. For an out-of-conference game between two mediocre teams (at best in the case of the Eagles), this is as good as it gets. What To Watch For: Slow the roll on the Eagles, please. Sure, if they can get a pick-six and a blocked punt for a TD and a punt return TD while the QB goes like 9-for-20 for 90 yards through three quarters of a game week after week, then, yeah, start the parade route. But this offense is still hunting and pecking for plays that work, it now has a running back controversy of sorts with on the outs again (oh what fortuitous timing for Shady's return), and this is a defense that could give fits. The blitz has been a nemesis, and no one blitzes like Rex. Stay tuned is throwing some of the best deep balls in the NFL and the Eagles are short on trustworthy defensive backs. The Bills will take plenty of shots downfield Is allowed to try to guard ? Or nah? Where the heck did come from? Had some very nice runs forced into his debut last week (7 rushes for 41 yards in all), which speaks to how well coordinator Greg Roman has this run game humming right now I mean, does anyone even need to gue s who Rex Ryan is sending out as his team captains this week? How great would it be if he just sent out McCoy, alone. Don't even name a special teams or defensive captain. Just Shady standing out there by the middle of the field for the coin flip.Well, It Is Profe sional Footballat Oakland (5-7) at Denver (10-2) Sunday, Dec. 13, 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS) Why To Watch: Brock n' Roll, man! Brock n' Roll Lives! Brock 'n Roll Forever! OK, so not quite. And Brock Osweiler looked as shaky as I've seen him against the last week and showed some of his inexperience, but he certainly didn't cost the Broncos the game. He didn't get in the way and Larry Ogunjobi Jersey the run game continues its ascent and the defense remains stout and he remains the Broncos starting quarterback with little chance of that changing with each victory he mounts. Just facilitate, baby, and don't turn it over. The Broncos go for a fourth straight win with the kid under center while the Raiders are licking their wounds after another season that looks like it has gotten away from them. Oakland has lost four of the last five games, with its only win being a semi-controversial comeback at Tenne see. With Green Bay, San Diego and Kansas City still looming, it seems like a lot to ask for this group to even get back to .500. But the Raiders can still be dangerous and probably have another upset in them and they nearly beat Denver -- with -- the first time around. What To Watch For: It's been a rough stretch for lately. He hasn't been executing in the fourth quarter the way he was early in the season, and throwing three straight picks last week to blow a lead to the at home probably ended the meaningful portion of the Raiders' schedule. How does he bounce back? I love the kid's moxie and I bet he finishes strong It's been tough sledding for the past four weeks, and that's had a lot to do with the Raiders season stalling out. He has topped 60 yards just once in that span. Needs more carries, too Broncos have topped 130 yards rushing in a game three straight weeks after doing so just three times in the first nine weeks total. They have posted at least 32 rushes as a team in all three games since Osweiler took over Can the Broncos get back and looking like himself? It would be a nice lift for a defense that frankly might not even need one Does Gary Kubiak play this one uber-conservative or let Osweiler chuck it around a little more? Plenty of favorable match-ups if he opts to open it up a little bit continues to defy age each week. All over the football. Why isn't more made of him aging gracefully? So, where in the world is Peyton Manning this week? Watching from a suite? Sitting in the locker room? Back out on the sidelines? Will he do the holding-the-clipboard thing? at Atlanta (6-6) at Carolina (12-0) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: This should be a total and complete mismatch, but it has a certain car-wreck potential that cannot be ignored. Carolina continues to steamroll towards a potential perfect season, while the look like a team that may have already won for the last time in 2015 -- way back in October when they survived the to move to 6-1. They've lost five straight times since then, despite playing largely middling opponents. It's hard to think this is the team that finally derails Carolina (a suming any team actually does as much). Add in the fact that the Falcons are 0-3 within the NFC South and still have to face these Panthers again in two weeks, and, well, it doesn't pain a pretty portrait and just might portend some significant change in the front office this season. What To Watch For: Remember when was the Golden Boy -- at least in the eyes of his very vocal fan club -- and was looked at side-eyed by many? My, my, my have things changed. Cam is looking to cement an MVP season and gets to pick on a suspect defense, while we await the point where Ryan's interceptions pa s or surpa s his touchdown total. He's to sed nine picks in his last six games and has three multi-pick games in that span and faces arguably the best corner in the game this week in So what do the Falcons do if/when Norman shuts down ? This offense has bogged down and is questioning itself and has been brutal in the red zone. Falcons 5th worst with a 78 QB rating in the red zone How many gift TD bombs will drop this week? Will he catch more than he drops? He will get behind this defense Look for the presence of to gradually make the Panthers pa s rush more vaunted and I expect a big day from him here.at New Orleans (4-8) at Tampa Bay (6-6) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: continues what should be his march to the rookie of the year award, keeping this team in the thick of the playoff hunt at a time when it defies logic. This Bucs team should not be .500 this late in the season and they've won three of four and have their future in their hands getting to face the slumping , and Bears before ending the season at Carolina. That game that could range between historically significant for the length and breadth of the NFL to completely meaningle s for the Panthers having already, say, lost a game but still secured the top seed in the NFC. The Bucs are worth watching and have feasted on divisional opponents. Can the Saints play spoiler here? Will Winston join the parade and gut their horrible defense? What To Watch For: Winston continues to display a nose for the end zone. He is not afraid to get airborne and absorb plenty of contact to score the football and only Newton (7) has more rushing TDs than Winston's five among all NFL quarterbacks. He's already accounted for 23 total touchdowns in just his first 12 starts -- obviously nothing to scoff at -- and has just four interceptions in his last eight games after throwing seven in his first four starts The return of TE always unlocks the Tampa offense and Winston loves feeding the big target. He'll make some big plays down the stretch in the red zone if he can stay healthy Only has more rushing yards than (just 49 Baker Mayfield Jersey yards more) and Martin's average of 5 yards per carry leads all fulltime backs. Saints have allowed just one rusher to reach 100 yards this season The Bucs defense has been markedly better protecting against the big play this season. They have allowed just 36 total plays over 20 yards all season, best in the NFL, while the Saints generally rely on a bevy of quick strikes to try to hang around in games.at Tenne see (3-9) at (7-5) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Why To Watch: The Jets are very much alive in the playoff race after straight wins and they seem to be getting a little healthier and might even get back in the next few weeks as well. These are games where they need to take care of busine s, especially at home. And, 's rookie season is nearing its conclusion and the kid is worth checking out when po sible. The Titans won't be this bad for long, and his future is very, very bright. Imagine what he'll be able to do with some sort of cast around him. This Greedy Williams Jersey could be a tricky game if Mariota is able to make plays outside the pocket. What To Watch For: This should be another big game for . The Titans are allowing the third-highest opposing QB rating in the NFL (101.6), including 25 TD pa ses and over 8 yards per attempt. The Jets pa sing game -- and receiver in particular -- is in peak form right now What does Todd Bowles have in store for the kid QB? Mariota has thrown for multiple TDs in six of his 10 games and thrown for three or more scores four times already, including in each of the past two games. He can be pre sed into some rookie mistakes, but not all that often Jets got going in the pa s game some last week and I expect to see more of that. Yards will be tough on the ground for to come by against this defense -- which has been very good against the run the last six weeks after a poor start -- but then again he seems to like having to fight for them. He's averaging a strong 4.72 yards per carry over his past four games. at Washington (5-7) at Chicago (5-7) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: It wasn't all that long ago that was the apple of Dan Snyder's eye and the owner was willing to go to great lengths to trade for him, only to be beat out by the . Could you have imagined that coupling? That would have been gold. Now they meet with the trying to be the cla s of the NFC East, for whatever that's worth, and trying to rediscover their offense after a woeful outing Monday night. Meantime, the Bears are reduced to playing out the string in all likelihood after a tough lo s to the last weekend but continue to give a strong effort. What To Watch For: will be a handful for this defense. He'll get a kick out of watching scald the Bears for the game-winning bomb last week and loves to find him deep early in games Cutler needs to shake off a bad flashback last week with a pick-six that changed the game. He's avoided those kinds of pitfalls for much of the year is averaging nearly 100 yards per game but has just two receiving TDs in his seven games this season. Bears have to find that tall frame more in the red zone The Skins have thrown eight picks and fumbled three times in five road games, allowing nine sacks and producing just one rushing touchdown. If they can't win the turnover war their season will stall with three of their final four games on the road Having TE go to IR a big blow for Cutler. He was the lone real constant in that offense given all the injuries. Might make thing tougher on Jeffery now too.at Dallas (4-8) at Green Bay (8-4) Sunday, Dec. 13, 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: Let's see the Packers top last week's finish. I dare them. I want to launch one from 80 yards out this time. The ' slide has allowed Green Bay to cement the NFC North title in the next few weeks while Dallas continues to play out the string while playing musical chairs with backup quarterbacks. Packers must restore some home-field advantage to Lambeau and do so right now. Oh, and the Cowboys are one game out of the lead in the miserable NFC East despite having won like twice since Week 2 and they continue to say that could come back to win them a playoff game or two even after re-fracturing that clavicle. Never boring in Jerryland. What To Watch For: Anybody able to emerge as a reliable pa s catching option for Rodgers? How does respond to his quasi-benching from last week? Can make it through an entire season without major injury? Dallas did well with that acquisition that it's rarely mentioned (especially in light of DeMarco Murray's woes in Philly) Been a few weeks without a controversy, has it not? Clock still ticking on that? Still think the Packers might be wise to get on the outside a little more often and try to ramp up the Packers pa s rush in that regard with perhaps hitting the wall Does have a legit big game in him? If so, the Cowboys could desperately use it here The Cowboys' pa s rush is coming off a strong performance and the Packers' offensive line has plenty of i sues. Game could be won or lost right there. You've Got A Problemat San Diego (3-9) at Kansas City (7-5) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Why To Watch: For as much as I cannot blame you for not wanting to watch the Chargers these days, and especially when they play within the AFC West, the Chiefs are the exact opposite. Kansas City is exuding a spirit and energy that is infectious, it is riding a six-game win streak and has a chance to get into the postseason with abundant momentum. The Chiefs are finding different ways to win each week and last week it was the defense with three succe sive picks of Derek Carr. Scary team come January if they keep this up.What To Watch For: Can the Chargers even keep it close? The Chiefs beat the crap out of them a few weeks back, 33-3, and San Diego has been outscored 87-35 in their three divisional games (and the games really haven't been even that close) still has not thrown a pick since Week 3 and while that streak will surely end soon enough, it might not be here against this defense Kansas City kept a pretty even split in the carries between and last week; would think they end up riding the hot hand should one emerge any given week Only the Patriots, Panthers, Bengals and Cardinals have a better scoring differential than the Chiefs (128) The Chargers will need a few big plays from safety . The only time their defense looks even quasi-competent is when he leads the way Talk about a tremendous season from Chiefs safety who overcame cancer and is back in top form. That story is not getting as much attention as it should. at Seattle (7-5) at Baltimore (4-8) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: Good thing this got flexed to 1 p.m. The are just trying to keep enough healthy bodies to finish the season, and they catch the at a time when the Seahawks are starting to look like Lombardi contenders again. This could be the most lopsided game of the week. Few are doing it better than these days and this is a secondary that even weak quarterbacks have been feasting on pretty much all season. What To Watch For: Will it take even a quarter before the inevitable pick-six? Maybe the first pa s of the game? This is the kind of game where the Legion of Boom should look like the good 'ol days Two of the better run-stuffing teams in the NFL and might not be the kind of day has been used to since taking the league by storm replacing Like what is doing for the Seahawks at TE since went down. Actually flashed some nifty moves with the ball in his hands last week Buck Allen might be a keeper for the Ravens at RB. A decent game against this defense would further boost Jaelen Strong Jersey his stock.at Detroit (4-8) at St. Louis (4-8) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: Maybe to see who gets fired after it? I hate to be dire, but these two teams have already been purging their staffs and both come in off some new lows a week ago, highlighted by the ' bizarre Hail Mary lo s to Green Bay last Thursday. There's going to be plenty of talk about the future of Jeff Fisher and Jim Caldwell through the end of the season, but at least the Lions have been playing solid football lately. The Rams look like a team whose owner is indifferent about their very existence in their current market and badly wants to move them halfway acro s the country and has a host of coaches and execs unsure of what the future will bring. Oh, wait a minute What To Watch For: Can the Lions bounce back from that lo s and come up with some pa sion? If so, could only help Caldwell's cause, but that won't be an easy lo s to shake Looks like it will be a humbling end to the season for . The Rams lack of any sort of offense and that has him doomed. Detroit's front has been much better of late The Rams have been outscored, 58-10, in the past two weeks and seem to lack self belief, understandably so Lions will continue to move around and find ways to get the ball in his hands Can salvage his season with a decent finish? He did manage to catch a TD pa s last week.at Indianapolis (6-6) at Jacksonville (4-8) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Why To Watch: The are still fighting for a division title, and these two teams did at least conspire to play a football game that went down to the wire in their first meeting. But I can't in good conscience endorse this rematch. We may have under center for the Colts, who have finally lost with a backup QB this season, coming in for a team that got destroyed by the Steelers, while managed to throw for five TDs on the road and the Jags still lost -- which sums up the kind of defense they play. What To Watch For: The Colts desperately need a run game now given the continued hits to the quarterback position. does not have a 100-yard game all season and has topped 70 yards only once in the past six weeks Only the and the Saints have surrendered more points than the Jags Jacksonville is just 1-3 against its own lowly division, yet is somehow 3-3 against the rest of the AFC outside of the South. Figure that out Should see taking more reps in practice next week and a return in Week 15 isn't totally out of the question Expect to see more designed short pa ses for Jags back . Was a factor in the pa s game last week. at San Francisco (4-8) at Cleveland (2-10) Sunday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Why To Watch: Was only a few years back these two franchises were having super top secret meetings about the Browns po sibly trading for then-49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. Now both are mulling firing the guys they have in place right now as the 2015 season long ago slipped away and it's going to take a ma sive turnaround to make 2016 le s bleak. But, hell, we finally get back as the Browns starter as that drama continues to unfold. We'll see if he can keep the job more than Christian Kirksey Jersey a few days this time. What To Watch For:This crowd will go nuts for Manziel -- who apparently has his money sign back in the fold now. Browns fans have been desperate for him to get back on the field. He should add some life to this game Continue to be shocked at how adequately Blain Gabbert is handling the 49ers job. He's been anything but an albatro s and is making plays to win games -- even with his feet has gone two games without a TD catch for the first time since the first two weeks of the season. Fear not. Johnny shall feed him Neither of these teams can run the football, but Cleveland is chronically inept. Browns have two rushing TDs all season (QB has one of them) and average 3.4 yards per carry as a team. Maybe give Ben Tate another call?at (5-7) at Miami (5-7) Monday, Dec. 14, 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN) Why To Watch: It's a Monday Night game. Yeah, seriously. No joke. So we'll watch. And maybe we'll get lucky and it will have some kind of crazy, wacky ending like a blocked field goal for a touchdown. That's about all we can hope for. And, sure, the Giants could still win the woeful NFC East but it's hard to concentrate on that in a week when the calls for Tom Coughlin's job are escalating in New York. What To Watch For: looks worse by the week and has suffered even against weak defenses like this. If he can't show anything against this outfit, alarms bells should really start ringing have to finally try to ride from here on out, right? against could bring some fireworks; that could get a little heated Do we get a sighting two weeks in a row?
